Times and Seasons

About two months ago, I was standing in line at Starbucks in a hotel waiting to order decaf coffee.

A lady had just placed her order and was waiting to pick up her stuff when she ran into some old friends. Let's call this lady, Lady A. They started talking about their children.

Lady A talked about how her daughter had just graduated in flying colors and was starting some job or had already gotten a job.  She gushed over how her daughter was helping out with this bill and that.

The other ladies looked on in awe. When lady A finally left the group, they began to talk among themselves. "Oh, do you remember Lady A from way back?
Her daughter is doing very well. She's graduated and is supporting her parents."

One of them laughed. She said, "Wow, look at that and I'm here still chasing after my teenage kids and dealing with paying school fees."

I flinched because comparing  myself with others is a personal rule I have set for myself to not indulge in.

One of the ladies said, "Yes, that's right. You were busy enjoying your single life. You weren't ready to settle down. We had to force you to marry the man you're currently married to."

I flinched again. Since I was standing right behind them. I heard everything. I couldn't help saying "Well, everyone's time is different." The lady I was trying to defend didn't really acknowledge what I was saying.

Served me right for bumping into a conversation that wasn't my business in the first place!

Does it ever feel like everyone has left you behind? All your friends have thriving careers and are directors and VPs. You are at the bottom end of the ladder after trying hard to attain success.  You are living from paycheck to paycheck while your peers are living in abundance and enjoying their lives.

Maybe it just feels like the world has moved on and left you behind! Maybe all your colleagues have children and you are still waiting for your miracle baby. It's been years of waiting, you've gone for various tests, tried everything you know to try and yet, nothing!

Maybe all your friends are married and you are still struggling with being single after such a long time. Maybe sometimes, it feels like someone pulled a huge sack over you and you just feel very invisible in a world that you should be dominating and thriving in?

Do you believe in Time and Seasons?
Do you believe that your life is so different from Mr or Mrs X's?

Due to the assignment you've been put on earth for, your life might just look like a bundle of contradictions!

I'm a believer in time and chance. At an appointed time, your dreams will come to fruition and your entire life will make sense. It may even amuse others.

I'm a spiritual person so I see life from a spiritual point of view. Do you believe that all things are working together for your good? That as long as you partner with the one who created you, everything will fall into place for you?

How are you managing your season or seasons of contradiction? How are you holding hope and keeping the faith?

I would love to hear from you.

Xoxo.........

Life, the one place you realise that there are really no mates. Everyone has their race to run. Everyone is an individual.
That’s what I tell myself regularly now, “I’m in competition with nobody. Whether I win now or later, I’m glad to live my own life.”

BIBI - CHAPTER 17

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange was happening to you Several months later….. **** Pere removed his glasses and rubbed his aching eyes. He thought about Nneoma. It had been months since he had seen her. He had reached out to her and tried to see her, but she had refused to pick up his calls. Eventually, she blocked his number, and he saw red. He had had enough. Today, he decided to go to her office to see her. A thousand thoughts crossed his mind. What if she wasn’t at the office? What if she had traveled? “Kade, I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said to their office assistant and headed out. “I’m here to see Ms. Nneoma Odili.” He said to the receptionist. “Is she expecting you?” “No.” He replied curtly. “What is your name?” The lady asked. “Pere is my name.” He answered. “She’s not at her desk.” The receptionist said to him after calling Nneoma's secretary. “Wow! But do you know if she’s in the office today?”

A little Update From Me

Hello there!! Happy New Year!!!  I say Happy New Year because I've been away from this blog for so long. :-(  I can't get past the fact that it was the new year just a few months ago. I remember going to church for the crossover service into the new year. It was my first in-person crossover service in 7 years. If you don't know what a crossover service is, ask any Nigerian. :-) 2023 was a few hours away, and my mind ran over the events in 2022. I thought about my wins, like moving to a new state, settling in, getting a job promotion, etc. I thought about how I got sick and felt like life was leaving me to being well again. People went forward to share their testimonies, and I felt I was supposed to be out there proclaiming God's goodness to me. "I'm sorry, Lord," I muttered. "Thank you for everything." A few hours later, everyone said "Happy New Year" with glee and excitement. "2023... Please be good to me." I th

BIBI - CHAPTER 16

I t was a rainy Monday morning, and Lara was frustrated by all the traffic. That was one thing she missed about London. Fast and reliable transportation that got you where you were going without hassles. She was cranky by the time she arrived at the office that morning. It didn’t also help that she didn’t have a good night’s sleep. She placed her bag under her desk and sighed. Kofo, her admin assistant, walked up to her. “Good morning, madam. Your first meeting with the people from Duchess Group is in forty minutes.” Lara squinted and then nodded. She hadn’t yet turned on her computer. “Thanks, Kofo. Yes, I know.” “Can I get you anything?” “Yes, please. My regular morning fix.” Lara smiled. “Okay, I’ll be right back,” Kofo replied. She liked her new assistant a lot. In the short time since she had known her, Kofo had proven to be reliable. She honestly didn’t know what she would do without her these days. After getting her morning fix, a cup of coffee, and egg sandwiches,
